Engineering Graduate – Project / Sales Engineer

This an excellent opportunity for an engineering graduate looking to take on a role as a project / design engineer within the office of a busy, market leading, UK-based, SME manufacturing/fabrication organisation.

You will work in an important position, with real clients, and on real projects, making a difference to the company as a whole, as well as our clients.

We are looking for someone driven to succeed. The role offers a fascinating insight into the workings of an SME, with regular contact and involvement with many elements of the company, including CAD design, production of technical and sales drawings, costings, quotations, Manufacturing, arranging installations and general project work; allowing you to develop your skills both personally and professionally.

Duties will include:

  • Operating a SOLIDWORKS 3D design CAD system.
  • Updating and controlling technical drawings for standard products.
  • Designing bespoke products from a sales and technical point of view.
  • Communication with engineers, customers and sales agents.
  • Handling technical quotations.
  • Issuing jobs to the factory for manufacture/production.
  • Handling general R&D projects and also sales projects from quotations to manufacture to installations.
  • Liaising with Customers, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Accounts & Transport to ensure jobs are completed as required.

Skills required:

  • Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent)
  • Experience with 3D cad packages – ideally SOLIDWORKS
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Good organisational skills to work to deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritise work based on changing workloads.
  • Ability to work alone, and in conjunction with other employees as required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Starting Salary: £18-£21K Subject to qualifications and experience

Fabricator Welder

Working as part of a small team of welder fabricators responsible for the fabrication and/or repair of a variety of heavy duty mobile yard ramps, heavy duty and lightweight access platforms and various other accessories providing entry and exit to vehicles, warehouses and containers etc.

Duties will include:

  • Fabricating sub-assemblies for the above equipment either as small batch work or individual bespoke items
  • Fabricating finished items from steel sections and sub-assemblies
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Measuring and marking out steel sections
  • Cutting, shaping, drilling and grinding of steel sections
  • Repair and reconditioning of completed fabrications as required
  • Maintaining a record of all work undertaken
  • Undertaking all work in a conscientious and safe manner

Skills required:

  • Extensive experience in similar role.
  • Good knowledge of all steel fabrications techniques, including, but not limited to MIG/TIG welding, pillar drills, guillotines, press brakes and plasma cutters.

Desirable Skills:

  • Counterbalanced forklift truck license.
  • Slinging & Lifting training
