Bespoke loading solution solves new stringent logistics requirements

At Thorworld, we work closely with our customers to identify and solve complex logistical challenges – as demonstrated by a bespoke loading solution for one of the UK’s leading life science ingredients suppliers, who took delivery of a bespoke Thorworld loading platform and dock leveller.

The company had taken on a contract to handle products that needed to be kept separate from other products in the warehouse, alongside high levels of environmental protection.  With its existing logistics operation not meeting these new requirements and warehousing space being at a premium, the company approached us to find a solution.

Through our dealer Darmax, we visited the site and designed a solution that would ensure efficient loading and unloading whilst meeting these new requirements.

This solution involved a bespoke loading platform and dock leveller, which connects to a new loading bay door installed by the company to ensure separation of products. Access to the platform is provided by an existing Thorworld loading ramp owned by the company which optimises access for forklift trucks.

A bespoke steelwork frame and cladding were also incorporated into the design to facilitate the installation of a dock shelter which ensures protection from the elements during vehicle loading and unloading.

Close collaboration between Darmax, Thorworld, the warehouse racking provider and the customer was necessary to maximise the available warehouse floor space. This was factored into the design, with the loading solution allowing the efficient transportation of goods whilst maximising available warehouse floor space.
