A Thorworld mobile yardramp took centre
stage in front of an international audience as part of a demonstration by JCB
Industrial for its highly versatile Teletruk range.
The demonstration
attracted record numbers to JCB’s headquarters at Rocester, Staffordshire, where
the Thorworld loading ramp was used in conjunction with a container vehicle to
showcase the performance of the market-leading telescopic forklifts.
The
Teletruks feature a small working footprint and are able to carry a very high
load capacity over most surfaces and gradients, making them perfect for use in
busy and congested yards. JCB Industrial hosts its annual demonstrations to
provide customers and dealers with the opportunity to see Teletruks in action,
to show just how effective and versatile the machines are in real-life working
situations.
This year, the event attracted more than 200 people from
the transport, logistics, waste recycling, builders' merchant, industrial and
materials handling sectors, as well as JCB's forktruck dealer network. What’s
more, visitors weren’t just from the UK, with delegates travelling from as far
afield as Germany, Holland, Belgium, Spain, Austria and even India, to attend
the demonstrations.
This is the fourth consecutive year that JCB
Industrial has chosen to use a mobile loading ramp from Thorworld. The ramp is
designed and built specifically to allow the safe and efficient loading and
unloading of vehicles by fork truck in environments where there are no raised
loading docks – such as within JCB’s demonstration arena.
A JCB spokesman
said: “We hold the demonstration because we want to show our customers just how
effectively the Teletruks perform in a working environment. The event includes a
variety of real-life tasks such as unloading the container lorry as fast as
possible, which is where the Teletruk and Thorworld’s mobile yardramp really
come into their own.
“We use a Thorworld mobile container loading ramp
for our demonstration because we have absolute confidence in their products.
They are extremely strong and rigid so you know they’re not going to shift as
the Teletruk drives up and down the ramp - particularly when carrying a full
load - and the serrated deck gives good traction in all weathers, allowing a
container lorry to be loaded or unloaded quickly, safely and
efficiently.”
Thorworld mobile yardramps feature a steel superstructure
and solid beam construction. Available as Standard, Deluxe and Super Deluxe
(light, medium and heavy duty) models, with 6,000kg, 7,000 kg, 10,000 kg, 12,000
kg or 15,000 kg capacities, they can be purchased outright or hired through the
company's specialist RentARamp operation with a sale or return
option.
Hydraulically operated down to 890mm, the ramps have a serrated
open grid deck for positive traction in all weather conditions, are CE marked
and fully meet all European safety standards and directives.
Bespoke
models can also be supplied to meet individual customer requirements and a
comprehensive service and maintenance back-up facility is available to help
ensure that the ramps are always kept in a tip-top, safe working
condition.
"We are delighted that JCB has once again chosen Thorworld to
supply the yardramp for their live customer and dealer Teletruk demonstration,
especially as this year’s event attracted such a large and international
audience,” said John Meale, managing director of Thorworld Industries.
"As the VIP guests at JCB’s demonstration will have seen, the ramp can
be quickly and easily moved around a site using a forklift truck. Then, once in
position, the vehicle can be backed-up and secured to the ramp using the safety
chain and wheel chocks, to enable loading or unloading to commence. This means
the ramp can provide companies who don’t have a dedicated raised loading dock
with a safe and effective method for loading and unloading goods from lorries,
whenever and wherever needed.”
