Overview
Our wheel chock with switch is a TWC-3 cast aluminium wheel chock, with a switch incorporated. The switching wheel chock can be connected/interlocked to Traffic Lights, Dock Levellers, Doors or other safety devices, to identify if a vehicle is in position or not.
Primarily, the wheel chock with switch functions as a wheel chock, i.e. to prevent vehicle roll-away. Additionally, the switch can be used in a number of ways to further improve loading dock safety:
- Connect to traffic lights, to improve communication.
- Interlock to door, dock leveller or similar, i.e. they can only operate once the chock (and therefore vehicle) is in place.
- Set off warning beacon/sounder in the event of a vehicle leaving the dock whilst the loading process in still taking place.
The heavy duty coiled cable is extendable to 8 metres, but restricted to 5m with the retaining chain, to prevent damage to cable connections.
We recommend that a 24 volt isolated and fused circuit be incorporated into the equipment being safeguarded, and advise that it should be used for signal purposes only.
Note: We are not electrical system designers. Please discuss implementation of our ‘wheel chock with switch’ with an appropriately qualified electrician.
